Canteen Volunteering

10/05/2016
The Helensvale State High School canteen provides a service for over 2800 students and staff. The canteen always needs extra help and we welcome volunteers to offer their help in support of the school. The more we can support our school the more we can improve our children’s outcomes.
The canteen is run by our supervisor Mrs Kate Carr, supported by Helensvale State High School and assisted by staff and volunteers who are usually parents and community-minded people. It takes around 35 volunteers overall to maintain the canteen service in such a large school.  Voluntary help allows increased student services during peak times.
Let’s get behind our amazing school as your support will improve our childrens’ health with better canteen options!
Kate arranges the volunteer’s roster to suit their personal commitments. Any assistance is very much appreciated and most welcomed, even if it is only for a couple of hours. Some tasks include food preparation, restocking shelves, serving students and supervision of serving lines.
Volunteering is an ideal way of developing new skills, friendships and self-confidence whilst helping your child, getting to know your school and providing a valuable service.
