Independent Public School Council

Dear Parents
 
As an Independent Public School (IPS) we are required to have an IPS School Council. Our IPS Council Constitution states that we have the following IPS membership model:
 
·         2 official members being the Principal and P & C President
·         1 elected parent member
·         1 elected staff member
·         2 appointed members
·         1 elected student member
The time period (two years) of our first elected members has now lapsed.
We are beginning a new election process and the date of our next parent election is 2nd  May 2017. The final date of the receipt of nominations is the 10th April.
 
The role of the parent member representative is to attend meetings (four per year) and influence and monitor the broad strategic direction of the school.
 
The meeting to elect nominated parent representatives will be held on Tuesday 2nd May at 5.30pm to 6.30pm in  the library (SWeLL) at Helensvale SHS. Parents and carers should email nominations to Mark Blackshaw (principal@helensvaleshs.eq.edu.au) by the 10th of April.
