Payment Options:

Financial Statements

Statements are emailed twice per term to the fee paying parent/guardian (week 5 and week 10).  If you are on an approved payment plan, your statement is merely an update of how much is outstanding.  If there are no fees outstanding, you will not receive a statement.  Negative amounts showing on a statement are credits.  If you wish to have credits on your account applied to invoices, please contact the Finance Office.

Student Resource Hire Scheme

The Executive Principal and School Council of Helensvale State High School are proud to be able to extend to you the opportunity to take advantage of the school’s student resource scheme. This scheme is authorised to operate under the education (general provisions) act 2006 and department of education, training and employment policy.

The scheme’s major purpose is to provide an extremely cost effective and efficient strategy to parents and students which:

  • Reduces the financial outlay for parents in providing a wide variety of student resources
  • Eliminates shopping for text books, novels and resources
  • Gives students access to a wide range of up-to-date resources
  • Supplements consumable resources which are used to ensure real life learning experiences for our students
  • Assists in maintaining a high level of technology across the school learning environment
  • Accommodates a range of school based and workplace programs to enhance student skill development

Our students will graduate from this school into a highly competitive environment and it is our goal to provide for our students the best possible outcome. When surveyed, parents and students demonstrated an exceptionally high level of support for the operation and resource base of this scheme.

It is timely to reflect that the government supplies the tuition fees and basic general foundations for the delivery of student curriculum programs. Please note, the student resource scheme fees have had the cost of the government textbook allowance deducted to reduce the total cost which parents are required to pay. However, as has always been the case, the cost of books, stationary and additional resources has been the responsibility of parents and students.

All monies raised through this scheme are expended directly on the students of the school on an annual basis. Please view the SRS Annual Information Letter and SRS Inclusions for more detailed information.

Subject and Academy Program Fees

Academy Programs and some elective subjects incur a fee.  Once a student has their enrolment in these courses approved an invoice will be emailed to the fee paying parent.  Subjects will be invoiced separately, outlining the fee and the due date.  Payment made in full will confirm enrolment in the particular subject or Academy Program.  Year 9 and 10 elective subjects will be invoiced per semester.  Details of subjects and associated fees are available in the Subject Selection Handbooks.

Excursions, Camps and Extra-Curricular Payments

School excursions and camps enhance a student's learning by providing opportunities for the student to participate in activities, both curriculum-related and recreational, outside the normal school routine. All planned school excursions are approved by the Principal and endorsed by the School Council.

State schools are able to charge a fee for:

  • an educational service including materials and consumables not defined as instruction, administration and facilities for the education of the student
  • an education service purchased from a provider other than the school where the provider charges the school and a specialised educational program.
A school fee is directed to the purpose for which it is charged.

School fees for extra-curricular activities are calculated on a cost recovery only basis, according to the number of students who have indicated their attendance.

Participation of students in an extra-curricular activity is indicated through payment of the fee and provision of a permission form completed by the parent. Due dates for excursions, camps and activities are required to allow sufficient time for staff to organise the activity.

As the school budget cannot meet any shortfalls in funding for an extra-curricular activity due to the subsequent non-participation of a student who had previously indicated attendance of the activity, fees already paid for an extra-curricular activity may be refunded in full or in part or not at all, having regard to the associated expenses incurred and the circumstances of the non-participation.

Extra-curricular activities include camps, excursions, sport, ski trip, social activities, Year 12 Formal and senior jersey.

It is a requirement that students are financial with the school to be eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities.  If students have unpaid levies for activities in the previous year they will be unable to participate again until the balance is settled.

The activity fee is also required to be paid before commencement of the activity.  Payment plans are not offered for extra-curricular activities, however payment instalments are accepted up to the due date of the activity.  Payment extensions cannot be granted for extra curricular activities.
