​Here at Helensvale SHS we are passionate about EVERY one of our students succeeding. In order to achieve this, it is vital that students learn the necessary knowledge and commit to task completion in order to meet the deadlines and hand in all required tasks.

Our teachers continually provide support in catering for student needs however, there are instances when students require additional time and assistance to fulfil their learning objectives or goals so they are able to submit their work. There are also students who require extension of their learning.

For this purpose, Monday afternoons are dedicated to assisting these students via designated WILL and SKILL sessions:

"SKILL" sessions: For students who require more targeted instruction in order to meet the required deadlines or who are interested in opportunities for extension.

"WILL" sessions: For students who have demonstrated the required knowledge however have not met the required deadlines.

To assist students in achieving their goals, we will be implementing the following supportive arrangements for all year levels in 2020

  • SKILL sessions: If students are identified they will be required to attend a compulsory small group tutorial within their identified subject on Mondays 2.15pm-2.55pm.  Students will be advised of the venue and date. Specific extension sessions may also utilise the Monday afternoon schedule.
  • WILL sessions: Identified students will be required to attend compulsory catch up sessions held Mondays from 2.15pm-2.55pm in SWeLL. Parents will be advised of the venue and date by text message on the Friday prior. 

Please note that on Monday afternoons students will be able to access buses which will leave the school at normal scheduled times.
